A total of 24 countries will be participating in the 2024 European Championship.
In addition to the host country, Germany, there will be 20 other participants determined from the European Championship qualification groups. This includes all the group winners and runners-up. The remaining 3 fortunate teams will be selected through playoffs, based on their performance in the UEFA Nations League. A total of 12 countries from the Nations League will be taking part in these playoffs.
This comprises the 4 group winners from each of the 3 leagues: A, B, and C. One team from each league will secure a spot in the European Championship. If a team has already qualified through the qualification rounds, the next highest-ranked team in that league will step into the playoffs. The schedule for the European Championship playoffs includes two semi-finals and a final, with the matches set to take place in March 2024.
