Albärt, the friendly bear mascot, made his debut to the German audience at the Arena AufSchalke during a recent friendly match where the host country faced Colombia (resulting in a 0-2 scoreline). This adorable mascot is not just a symbol; it’s a representation of ambition—a determination to inspire children all across Europe to embrace an active lifestyle and foster their love for football and its core values.
Inspiring children to enjoy football
“As a parent, I understand the importance of nurturing children’s imagination,” explains Phillip Lahm, the tournament director of EURO 2024. “With the launch of our tournament mascot, we hope to create a fun and endearing character that inspires them to enjoy football.”
Célia Šašić, tournament director of EURO 2024 and vice president of the DFB, adds: “You can’t start laying the foundation for movement, playfulness, and teamwork early enough.
